WE INVITE REDWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT FAMILIES TO JOIN US!
WHY REDWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT PARENTS SHOULD DONATE:
There is a funding gap between what the state provides for education and what schools need to thrive. Most schools try to address this funding gap by raising funds for essential programs and services. Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is the school-based body that fundraises for these needs.
• 3 of the 12 schools in our district–Garfield, Hoover, and Taft–do not have PTOs. Without a PTO, they have no fundraising arm.
• More than 90% of the students at these schools come from Latinx households and qualify for free or reduced lunch.
• Nearly two-thirds of the students are English Language Learners.
Schools are the one place that touches all members of society. Thus we as parents have an obligation to contribute to not only our child’s school but also our school district. When you make a donation to Redwood City Education Foundation, you are supporting education equity for all students in Redwood City; by investing in Redwood City Education Foundation, you are investing in our local community.
WHAT THE DONATION GOES TOWARDS:
When you donate to RCEF, you support education equity for our Redwood City children. Thanks to your donation, you are narrowing the opportunity and achievement gaps between the families that can and cannot afford to fill those gaps.
RCEF, working closely with the school principals and their communities, is funding programs to support student's academic success and mental health initiatives. RCEF is funding one mental health counselor at each of the three schools and specific programs to improve the math and literacy skills at all three schools.
We invite you to be part of ensuring that every student in our district is getting the support needed to be successful. Together we can make a difference.
